We often have clients with new websites contact us in a panic because the site does not show up in a Google search within a few days. RELAX - it is taking Google longer these days to decide what a new website is all about and it can often take 6 weeks for a new site to get indexed and 6 months before it reaches its correct ranking. These measures are necessary to prevent the exploitation of Google positioning by spurious websites and at the end of the day helps everyone with a legitimate website. |

Scotland Magazine - We have had a lot of positive feedback from clients taking a listing in the Scotland Magazine www.scotlandmag.com so if you want a quick fix to boost the traffic to your website this may be one to think about. Foreign Translations - if you want to increase your overseas visitors then you should think about having a foreign language translation page built. From just £195 plus VAT we can provide a summary page in your chosen language with a full code/text translation by a native speaker, not an automated translation done through the use of software (if you have ever translated any of those back to English, you’ll understand why we do not use them!) and submitted to the national version of Google in the home language. This technique can give you some really valuable foreign traffic to your website to help you gain a competitive edge. Ring us on 01397 700924 for more details or email us. |

The abuse of website contact forms by spammers has caused a lot of headaches, spammers have been using software to seek out and bulk fill contact forms with the result that many of our customers have had difficulty weeding out genuine enquires. However we have developed a new contact form that cannot be filled in by software because it is built using Flash. This gets rid of all but the most determined "human" spam misuse of forms and at £49 plus VAT represents a good investment rather than ploughing through a full inbox every day. Contact HotScot on 01397 700924 for more details or email us. |

Hotels are starting to come under the spotlight of the Disability Discrimination Act 2002 (DDA). This interesting article in the Caterer explains some of the problems being faced and how many hotels face losing business if their websites are not up to standard. Making your website compliant with the DDA need not be unduly expensive, most of our newer sites are compliant anyway. However if your site is over 2 years old it may need some recoding. If you require advice on compliance with the DDA and what you need to do to bring your website up to standard then contact Robert on robert@hotscot.net or ring on 01397 700924. |

We are launching a new look for HotScot at the beginning of August. This will mark a change in the way we market our products and services with the creation of a new "HotScot Creative" brand. The current "HotScot" website www.hotscot.net will continue to support the development of our website packages such as the Professional and Enterprise, but the corporate and individual bespoke design websites will now be managed under a new brand "HotScot Creative" on its own website www hotscotcreative.net . Both new websites will feature new brand images. This will give a better focus for tailoring the marketing of our services to customers. Keep an eye out for the notification of the launch! |

Computers and technology are so much a part of business life these days that we tend to take them for granted - until they go wrong! A recent survey by BT revealed that 36% of businesses in the UK experience IT problems everyday, increasing to 66% with a problem every week. This just emphasises the benefits of having a reputable partner such as HotScot for your website support. |
